Belgian Gardens State School P&C was recently awarded 2019 P&C of the Year at P&Cs Qld’s annual State Conference.

The Townsville based school prides itself on its innovative reef sustainability and ecology programs made possible by the whole-hearted support of its P&C.

President of P&Cs Qld, Ms Kaylee Campradt praised the P&C for its environmental initiatives.

“The Belgian Gardens State School P&C not only provides the funding for the school’s reef fish breeding program it also leads by example introducing initiatives such as staff keep cups and biodegradable tuckshop products.

“Their recently opened Shoal Café community hub is also an asset to the school and community with its vibrant reef theme and welcoming atmosphere.”

The annual P&C of the Year awards sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank celebrates the work of dedicated P&C volunteers in our Queensland state schools.

Award winners in each category were:
Prenzlau State School P&C for its Nature Play area (Band 5)
Eight Mile Plains State School P&C for its Book Buddies program (Band 6/7)
Sandgate State School P&C for its Visual Arts Precinct (Band 8)
Burpengary State School P&C for its ANZAC Monument of Honor. (Band10/11)
