The Department of Education is conducting consultations to identify key issues being raised by parents specifically about their perceptions of NAPLAN and their experiences with NAPLAN testing, which will be undertaken by consultants Gabrielle Matters and Dr Robert Lake.

This review sits within the broader context of a larger review to be undertaken at a future date on the impact of NAPLAN on teaching and learning.

The consultation period is Thursday 31 May to Thursday 14 June.

The consultants will collect information in the following ways:

  • On-line survey for parents of children at school (1 June to 15 June)
  • Forums for parents in Brisbane, Townsville and Emerald (within the period 7 June to 14 June)
  • Interviews with parents self-selected through the survey process (individual parents will be approached directly 4 June to 14 June)
  • Meetings with parent organisations and special interest groups

P&Cs Qld believes it is imperative that the parent voice is heard in all matters that directly affect the education of our children, particularly around curriculum.

We are therefore very pleased to support the current survey of parents around their perceptions of NAPLAN and encourage all parents to respond, either electronically or by attending the state forums.
