I have attended four QCPCA conferences and regional events while keeping up to date through the Facebook discussion groups and emails in regards to what is going on throughout the state.
Our College is a P–12 school with over 2000 students. The P&C runs the Secondary Canteen, Primary tuckshop, Uniform and Stationery Shop and a 130-place licenced OSHC. With 25 staff and an annual turnover of $2 million, we strive to balance the P&C running as a business while maintaining community connections and engagement. We are also an Independent Public School and I have been on the School Council since its inception five years ago, first as a parent rep then as P&C President.
I am passionate about P&Cs and School Councils and feel that I can add value to QCPCA Board while also having the opportunity to expand my own knowledge around P&Cs, School Councils and improved parent and community engagement.
I hold a Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma in Property, and currently work full time as the Cairns Branch Manager for a national commercial painting company, managing 15 staff as well as subcontractors and responsible for financial outcomes, budgeting, compliance to regulations etc. I have also held volunteer roles with Cairns Saints AFNC and the Cairns Netball Association.
